Rhythmic Dance is a collaborative piece made with two other artists; Alex Bradley and Heather Marusiak with partnership with the American Association of Woodturners and Women in Turning, Virtual Exchange.  This projects consists of over 100 individual pieces of maple, walnut and oak and has kinetic movement with the turning handle to spin the spindle dancers around and around.

Sometimes my projects are close to the heart.  A good friend asked for a pair of cremation urns for her moms final resting place, and I was honored to create these pieces.  

Working with burls is always a joy for any woodworker; when turning, I like to leave a natural edge on some of the pieces to bring a different dimension to my designs.

I was experimenting with miniature hollow forms as well as adding texture and color.  This vessel is made from walnut, textured with a wire brush, burnt and color applied to it.  Very much resembles the features and texture in leather.

Inspiration can come from anywhere, and practicing and trying out techniques can bring on new and exiting shapes and forms.  This piece was turned, carved, burned and then a metallic finish applied. 

I received a large quantity of Juniper from a neighbor, here is just a couple of bowls turned green and very thin and then allowed to warp as they dried.  Each piece dried and moved differently.
